Submit Your Data
Real-world ammunition performance varies by firearm, barrel length, temperature, and production lot. Manufacturer velocity figures are measured under controlled lab conditions – your results will differ, and that difference is exactly what we want to document.
If you have chronograph data, we want it. Even if the load you tested does not yet have a page on AmmoReports, submit anyway – include the UPC number and we will attach your data when the page goes live.
What makes a good submission
The more context you provide, the more useful your data becomes. A velocity number without conditions tells us very little. A velocity number with barrel length, temperature, shot count, and lot number tells us a great deal.
Required for every submission:
- UPC number from the box
- Firearm type (pistol, rifle, revolver, shotgun)
- Barrel length (inches)
- Average velocity (fps)
- Number of shots over the chronograph
Strongly recommended:
- Temperature at time of testing (°F)
- Chronograph make and model – for example, Caldwell G2, MagnetoSpeed V3, Garmin Xero C1 Pro, Labradar. Different chronographs have different measurement methods and margins of error, so knowing the device helps us assess the data.
- Firearm make and model – for example, Glock 19 Gen 5, S&W M&P Shield Plus, Ruger 10/22, AR-15 with 16″ barrel. This helps identify patterns across platforms.
- Lot number printed on the box or tray
- Notes on malfunctions, accuracy impression, or anything unusual
Optional:
- Distance from muzzle to chronograph (feet)
- Photo of the box and/or lot number
A note on chronographs
Not all chronographs measure the same way. Optical units (like the Caldwell G2 or Competition Electronics ProChrono) measure the shadow of a bullet passing over sensors – they can be affected by lighting conditions and placement. Doppler-based units (like the Labradar or Garmin Xero C1 Pro) are generally more consistent but measure at a slightly different point downrange. Muzzle-mounted units (like the MagnetoSpeed) attach directly to the barrel and eliminate most environmental variables.
None of these is wrong – they just measure differently. That is why noting your chronograph model matters. When multiple submissions use the same device, patterns become clearer.
Registration required
To submit data you need to create an account – name, email address, and password. Registration is straightforward and takes under a minute. All submissions are reviewed manually before appearing on any page. We check for obvious errors – impossible velocities, mismatched calibers, duplicate entries – and approve or reject accordingly. If your submission is rejected, it is almost always due to missing required fields, not because the data looks bad.
Already have data but the load is not on the site yet?
No problem. Fill out the form with the UPC number and all available data. We log every submission. When we build the page for that load, your data will be included from day one.

The “Where to Buy” block on every load page contains affiliate links to retailers. If you click one and make a purchase, the retailer pays us a small commission. Your price does not change – you pay exactly what you would pay going directly to the store. This revenue keeps the project running and has no influence on data, ratings, or any editorial content on this site.
All submitted data is for reference only. Results vary by firearm, barrel condition, ammunition lot, and environmental factors. Ammo Reports does not guarantee the accuracy of user-submitted results. See the Methodology page for how submissions are reviewed, aggregated, and displayed.
